Research into Ken Yeang, on the design ethos of eco-friendly buildings:

“Urban life that is reinforced by nature, not at odds with it, and where the buildings we create are environmentally responsive”

With the increase in weather conditions, and reliance on clean energy usage of buildings, the building sector must change working with conditions of each site.

·         Climactic Consideration
·         Architectural response to the needs of local ways of life
·         Aspirations to move countries from low rise to modem high rise strategies
“More environmentally appropriate model, which consumes less energy and provides a better rand more human environment for its users while establishing a unique cultural identity relating to the location”
Some techniques to use:
  • Vegetation
  • Vertical Gardens
  • Skycourts
  • Shading Structures
  • Passive mode/low-energy
    • Respond to local climates
    • Orientation
    • Experimental archi devices.

Buildings should not just minimalize the impact on the biosphere but lead to positive outcomes

Well-tempered skyscrapers?
